At the 2016 Hampton Downs 101 Richard lined up on the grid paired with two time Bathurst 1000 winner Tony Longhurst in the Miedecke Stone Motorsport prepared Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3.
Starting from seventeenth on the grid Tony and Richard were able to drive the Mike Pero Real Estate Aston Martin through the field to find themselves inside the top five with only a handful of laps left in the feature race. Sitting comfortably with the end in sight an uncommon drivetrain failure left Richard stranded at turn three, with no chance to take the chequered flag.
