Richard debuted in the V8SuperTourer championship in the inaugural round at Hampton Downs in 2012. Competing for the M3 Racing team Richard raced alongside Greg Murphy and Paul Manuell for the 2012-2015 seasons, co-driving duties were provided by Tim Slade.

With increasing success Richard took multiple pole positions, race and round wins before the eventual collapse of the SuperTourers Championship. Richard made a single return to the NZ Touring Cars championship in 2016 where he took a double overall round win, taking out the class one honours as well as the NZ V8 Ute round win, on his debut drive in the championship.
